Creatinine is a waste product of muscle metabolism and is usually filtered out by the kidneys and excreted in urine.   If you have elevated creatinine levels, it could be an indication of kidney disease, which is characterized by a decrease in renal function.  Are your kidneys failing? It\'s time to take charge.  Creatinine can cause symptoms like fatigue, poor appetite, nausea, and vomiting. If you\'re feeling those symptoms you might need to have your creatinine levels checked!  While there are many things that can cause creatinine levels to rise, one of the most common is a diet high in meat protein. You may be increasing your risk for chronic kidney disease if your diet is filled with meat, eggs and other animal-based products.  There are 5 ways to naturally lower your creatinine levels:  1. Don’t take creatine supplements  These creatine-producing pills are used by certain athletes to assist them improve their athletic performance. Reduce your salt intake  Excess salt in foods can contribute to high blood pressure. Eat more fiber  Dietary fiber has a number of health benefits, including lowering creatinine levels, Fiber can be found in a variety of plant foods, including fruits, vegetables, seeds, and whole grains.  4. Reduce your protein intake  Reduced consumption of red meat and fish products may help to lower elevated creatinine levels.   A person\'s diet could benefit from extra forms of vegetable protein, such as beans.  5. Avoiding dehydration  When a person is dehydrated, their creatinine levels can rise. Thirst, dizziness, and weariness are all symptoms of dehydration.   The cardiovascular and other systems can be strained by severe dehydration. It has the potential to be fatal.
