'Rising hunger. A changing climate. Wasted food. Polluted seas.  This can’t go on. With an ever-growing population to feed and only one planet, a sustainable circular bioeconomy is a good place to start.  It is an approach for sustainably producing, using and conserving biological resources.   Here are 5 ways FAO is helping the transition to a sustainable circular bioeconomy.  1. Reducing food loss and waste by strengthening value chains and repurposing lost or wasted food and agricultural and animal residues.  2. Finding bio-based solutions such as microbime applications organic fertilizers to help us produce our food.  3. Reducing pollution by offering alternatives to plastics and other materials made from fossil resources.  4. Diversifying diets by promoting local, lesser known but highly nutritious crops. 5. Restoring degraded lands, halting biodiversity loss and improving livestock management  A sustainable circular bioeconomy makes sense for better food production, better nutrition, better environment and a better life for all.
