'In this live ukulele tutorial I will show you how to play the introduction to \"Sweet Child O\' Mine\" by Guns and Roses. www.ukelikethepros.com When I was a kid I remember when Guns N\' Roses released their debut album \"Appetite For Destruction\" in 1987. My friends and I had a cassette tape of it (\"what the hell is a cassette tape\" some of you may be saying but it\'s not important and you can google it), HAHA. Anyway, we would wear that cassette tape out playing it over and over again. And if you remember cassette tapes, half the album would be on one side and then you had to flip the tape over to listen to the second side. Remember, this is pre-itunes, pre-cell phones, pre-email, pre-Nirvana. Ah, it was a simpler time. But I regress. So we would listen to those songs over and over again. Paradise City, Sweet Child O\' Mine, Welcome To The Jungle, It\'s So Easy, Nightrain, Out To Get Me, Mr. Brownstone, My Michelle, Think About You, You\'re Crazy, Anything Goes, and Rocket Queen. Whoa, what an incredible album, definitely one of the best top 10 albums of all time. Matter of fact I\'m listening to it now as I write. You have to understand the rock music scene of the 1980\'s was dominated by glam-rock bands like Poison, Warrant, and Motley Crue. Although I do have to admit I was also a big glam-rock fan as well but this was the decade of decadence and really brought to life the saying, \"Sex, Drugs, and Rock and Roll.\" They were more concerned about how much hairspray and makeup they could use and how tight they could get their leather pants. The sound of these glam rock bands started to get more and more \'pop\' sounding and began to lose their \'rock\' edge. It was time for a change, we could only take so much hair-spray. So when the hard driving blues-rock sound of Guns N\' Roses dropped in 1987 it completely blew the glam rock out of the water. Even though the early videos of Guns N\' Roses, Axl Rose, Slash and the boys had a little bit of a glam rock look, their sound was in your face hard rock. \"Sweet Child O\' Mine\" was their first single released off Appetite For Destruction and the intro guitar riff that Slash played radiated over the air waves of MTV. Matter of fact it was the bands only song to reach #1 on Billboard\'s Hot 100. As I was screwing around on the ukulele last night I started playing the intro to \"Sweet Child O\' Mine\" and said to myself, let\'s do a video of this tomorrow. So here we are, let\'s do it. NOTE: a ukulele with a Low G will give you the best sound for this lesson.
