'Well howdy, fellow worm farmers! I\'ve been a \"worm rancher\" for a few years now. One problem that creeps up sporadically in my worm bins is fruit fly infestation. If keep your bins outdoors that\'s no big deal, but if you keep them indoors it\'s problematic. This video shows the simplest solution to eliminating fruit flies as well as a variety of other unwanted creatures in your bins: cover it with a bedding material! I like to use wet sawdust, shredded paper, and even pieces of cardboard. So long as the worms and food material are covered, flies won\'t dig for it, and won\'t be encouraged to lay eggs and live out their short-ass fly lifecycle in your bins. Plus worms love damp paper and wet sawdust, so it\'s more food for your precious creepy crawlers!
