'To enhance the resilience and empowerment of rural women FAO\'s Flexible Multi-Partner Mechanism promotes community-led approaches such as the Dimitra Clubs Women empowerment In Chadakori, Niger, the women of the Dimitra clubs piloted free sessions of training on composting techniques, where: 25 trained farmers were asked by the clubs to share their knowledge Benefitted 5,000 people, 60% of which were women 789 compost pits were built, producing 20 tons of organic matter were produced in just 2 weeks “Not only has composting allowed me to save costs, but the compost has also improved the fertility of my field”- Rabi Yaou, training participant. The FMM subprogramme inspired radio stations to broadcast the results, motivating other villages to also learn about composting.
