'For more fruit fly control goodness, visit http://www.thebugsquad.com/fruit-flies/get-rid-of-fruit-flies/ - If you have every had a fruit fly problem, we understand that it can be very frustrating to kill these bugs and also kind of embarrassing to have them flying around your kitchen. In this video we will look at some effective fruit fly control and learn how to get rid of them quickly! Video Transcript: Throw away your rubbish regularly (daily if possible) and keep it away from the house, especially if it contains old food. I recommend putting your old food (offcuts, meat, etc.) in a separate plastic bag and keeping it in the freezer. Once its full, tie up the top securely and throw the entire thing (including the bag) into your rubbish bin. This is also a great way to prevent unpleasant smells coming from your bin. Also remember to always keep the lid on your bin! Wash your dishes as often as possible and try your best to keep your towels and clothing dry and out of damp places. Fruit flies are attracted to damp, moist fabric and decomposing food so this is a priority. Its also highly recommended that you give your entire kitchen a complete clean, from top to bottom, as this will ensure that there is no chance of any bacteria or old food that could cause more fruit flies to appear or even start another infestation. If you are using compost (especially if its home-made) or anything like it around your home and garden, this could be a potential breeding ground so investigate as soon as possible. I also recommend that you check the damp areas around your house for any signs of fruit flies. If you enjoy being eco-friendly and making your own compost is important to you, just ensure that its away from the house or bury the leftovers immediately. If you already have a fruit fly problem, its very important to solve it quickly as fruit flies can reproduce very fast. Good news is that this can be done for free! Easily create a fruit fly trap using the instructions found on the official Bug Squad website. Remember to make a few of them and to place them in any problem areas. Also, we recommend that you pour household bleach down your drains, both inside and outside your house. Any brand is fine so don\'t overspend.
