'Agripreneurship in Africa'

'Agribusiness entrepreneurs (agripreneurs) are key drivers in the development of sustainable food systems and value chains in Africa. They contribute to sustainable development through job creation, rural poverty reduction gender and youth empowerment, and environmental protection. Although agripreneurs play a crucial role in socioeconomic development, the business environment is often not supportive. To bridge this knowledge gap, in May 2018, FAO and EcoVentures International cohosted an ‘African Agripreneurship Knowledge Exchange’ workshop to validate the findings of a forthcoming publication on Agripreneurs, across Africa. The workshop gathered around 40 agripreneurs, policymakers and support service providers such as incubators, educational and finance institutions from across Africa to discuss facilitating the enabling environment for entrepreneurship. In addition, select participants had the chance to share their thoughts on agripreneurship in an inspirational video.
