'“LIONEL BART’S OLIVER” – MFP 1073 – (1966) With ‘Oliver’ Lionel Bart achieved the fantastic feat of having three hit musical shows all running in London at one time, the other two being ‘Fings Ain’t Wot They Used to Be’, and ‘Lock Up Your Daughters’. Not only has ‘Oliver’ outlasted its predecessors, it has also outlasted many of its successors, and is now in its sixth incredible year at the New Theatre, having first opened there on 30th June, 1960. This makes it the longest running musical show in theatrical history. (Source – cover notes on the back of the album, 1966) GEOFF LOVE and his Orchestra.
