'http://www.fao.org/quinoa-2013/en/ Quinoa production was introduced to Lebanon through a FAO technical cooperation project over two years. Nineteen varieties of quinoa seeds were provided to the Lebanese Agricultural Research Institute. and tested for their suitability to various agro-ecological zones, different sowing dates and agricultural practices. Trials were also done with the American University of Beirut and the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik. This project was also implemented simultaneously in 7 other countries: Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Iran, Mauritania, Sudan and Yemen The project offered the technical expertise for the trials to be conducted and the studies to be done particularly a socio-economic study. The project resulted in creating the expertise on quinoa production within the LARI team and building the capacity of the extension engineers in the Ministry of Agriculture. The results, outcomes and conclusions of the quinoa trials, demonstrations plots and studies are briefly exposed in this video.
