'What is the favourite food of composting worms? What scraps can I add to my worm bin? A good mix of greens and browns is a good idea to get rich vermicompost. Initially I made the mistake of adding few select fruit scraps( musk melon, watermelon, pumpkin) which attracted the worms in abundance and completely forgot to add the browns. I realised my mistake after a few months when I noticed that my regular compost was giving better results than my vermicompost. That got me thinking as to what was lacking in my vermicompost and it suddenly dawned on me that my vermicompost wasn\'t diverse at all- I had missed the browns completely and the greens were few select ones. Now I add a diverse variety of browns and greens to each of my worm bins ( as they become available in my kitchen) so that I have rich vermicompost for my containers for my upcoming growing season starting August 2015.'
