'Creatinine and kidney disease has been a hot topic in the latest research coming from other sources. Creatinine is a natural waste product that our muscles create and by that the kidneys tend to remove it from the body and it happen to present itself in your blood and urine. Creatinine can build up in your blood especially if one is a kidney patient. These results come from a high protein diet one might have, intense exercise, or use a certain type of medications. Doctors and researchers often use a creatinine test to determine how well the kidneys are functioning. If you have high levels of creatinine in your blood or urine it could be a sign that the kidneys are not filtering the blood effectively. Usually high levels of creatinine appear to be not threatening but it could also indicate a serious health issue, like chronic kidney disease. If a person has high creatinine levels due to a kidney disorder, a doctor will recommend treatment. Diet and lifestyle changes usually may also help patients. Thus, a routine blood test can measure a patients creatinine levels. There are many factors as to why your levels would increase like certain medications, NSAIDs, creatine supplements, dietary factors such as a high intake of protein, strenuous exercise, impaired kidney function, low blood flow, and more importantly dehydration. Unfortunately, shock, infections, and serious illnesses such as cancer can also cause elevated creatinine levels, sometimes due to kidney damage. So if tests come back to show that you have higher creatinine levels, it could be a sign that your kidneys are simply not working properly. If the glomerulus, the part of the kidney that filters waste is damaged or otherwise not working efficiently, a person could have high levels of creatinine in the blood but low levels in the urine. This indicates that the kidneys are not functioning to it\'s highest potential.
