'How to make a beer just like they make it in the valley. This non-alcoholic beer can be made with just a few ingredients and no keg. But you can totally make it in a keg. Here\'s how to make it. ✦ Subscribe to My Channel: http://bit.ly/2keGDCn ✦ Support on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/jammycooks89 ✦ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/jammycooks89 ✦ Twitter: https://twitter.com/jammycooks89 ✦ Instagram: http://bit.ly/2lgDqlP What You Need: 8 cups filtered water, more as needed 1/2 cup barley 1/2 cup brown sugar 1/2 cup white sugar 1/3 cup malt extract, optional 1 inch stem ginger, grated 2 limes, juiced and zested 1 lemon juiced and zested Scant 1/4 tsp champagne yeast, optional, for carbonation. Tools: 2 L soda bottle Funnel Small pot Measuring cup Measuring spoon Silicone spatula Small cutting board Filter Microplane Large pitches First, wash all tools with soapy water and allow to dry. Keep your hands clean while working otherwise your drink will be gross and contaminated. Rinse your barley under the sink a few minutes or until clean. Place washed barley in a small pot and add 4 cups of filtered water. Cook for 30-45 minutes or until barley is cooked. Drain into a clean pitcher. Pour strained liquid back into pot and discard barley. Reserve juice from lemon and limes. Grate lemon zest, lime zest, and ginger and add to barley water. Add sugar, brown sugar, and optional malt extract to barley water. Bring to a boil. Stir, cover, and allow to steep for 1 hour. Strain out solids back into pitcher. Add reserved citrus juice. Using a funnel, pour barley water into the clean soda bottle. Then, add another 4 cups filtered water. Seal and shake to combine. Chill in the fridge and drink whenever if you don’t mind a flat soft drink. Or…. To carbonate: Allow your beverage to cool to room temp. Then, add 1 scant 1/4 tsp of champagne yeast to your bottle. Shake. Place in a cool spot in your house, covered for about a day. Press against the plastic: it should feel like a new pop bottle, nice and pressurized. Place in the fridge until cool, about 4 hours. Then, open slowly and enjoy. Keep in the fridge and drink within a week or so.
