'Closing Ceremony Highlights of the 24th World Scout Jamboree The 2019 World Scout Jamboree will be held July 22 through August 2, 2019, at The Summit Bechtel Reserve in the beautiful mountains of West Virginia, USA. Unlike any other youth event, a world Scout jamboree invites you to surround yourself in the cultures of the world by joining your new Scouting friends at a single destination for 12 unforgettable days. Make lifelong friendships and memories with young people from more than 160 national Scout organizations representing more than 200 nations and territories. Unlock a new world of life-changing experiences that will help you develop your physical, intellectual, emotional, social, and spiritual life. Bike, hike, climb, fly, and swim at the world’s premier youth adventure camp. The theme for the 24th World Scout Jamboree, “Unlock a New World,” was developed by our youth bid team, known as the Dream Team. This theme speaks to the new adventures, cultures, and friendships that will be shared by Scouts from around the world during the event. Last week, Scouts at the World Scout Jamboree took a break from the high adventure activities that the Summit Bechtel Reserve offers to share what they love about their home countries with their fellow campers. One of the things I most look forward to are the #24thWorldScoutJamboree Shows. Here is the Show calendar: Opening Show - Tuesday, July 23 Unity Show – Friday, July 26 Scouts Own Service – Sunday, July 28 Closing Show – Thursday, August 1 Games, food, dances, traditions — they were all available for Scouts to enjoy as they ventured from their campsites to neighboring sites. English Scouts served biscuits and tea; Italian Scouts cooked pasta; Japanese Scouts made origami, and some American Scouts shared how to play this country’s pastime: baseball. For those who wanted to cook, Scouts shopped at the food markets that are available at the base camps. During the two weeks of the Jamboree, these shops are equipped to accommodate millions of meals. Then, the 45,000 Scouts and leaders in the crowd were treated to a surprise concert by Broadway performers, singing Disney songs from Tarzan, The Lion King, The Little Mermaid and Frozen. “Let It Go” was a crowd favorite, for sure, as the Novus wristbands lit up again in blue and white. The World Scout Jamboree wraps up this week. Watch the Closing Show tonight at 8 p.m. EST here.
